How to draw a rectangle with no fill using PhotoFiltre or Adobe Photoshop

Today when posting a new post for NiceHints.Com, I need to draw an rectangle with no fill on a image (for guiding purpose). It’s surprise that I could not find any articles tell me how to do, which program I can use (I don’t want to use Photoshop – it’s too big). Then I found the solution to draw a bordered rectangle without fill using PhotoFiltre.

PhotoFiltre is a wonderful image processing program like Adobe Photoshop. It’s free (version 6.0), light for installation and easy to use. To draw rectangle with no fill using PhotoFiltre, simply follow these steps:

Step 1: Open your image using PhotoFiltre.

Step 2: Click on Rectangle Selection Tool and select a rectangle area (which you want to draw a rectangle with no fill.

Step 3: Click on menu EditStroke and Fill… or pressing keyboard shortcut Ctrl+B. The Stroke and Fill dialog will popup.

Step 4: Tick on Stroke check box, choose color and width for the border of the rectangle, than click OK.

Step 5: You are finished. See the result of your work.

This tutorial guides how to draw a rectangle without fill using PhotoFiltre. It is very useful when you want to highlight an area in a image when posting. If you want to draw a rectangle with no fill using Adobe Photoshop, you can use Stroke tool on the menu Edit. Simply follow these steps but using Photoshop, and you will have your bordered rectangle without fill.

Hope this help you save your time a lot.
